We are delighted to announce the opening of Back to Where It All Began exhibition, which will take place on February 10, at Gaep Gallery, 50 Plantelor Street, starting 18.00 hrs.
The 10 emerging artișts within the programme – Andrei Arion, Flaviu Cacoveanu, Roberta Curcă, Lucia Ghegu, Mihaela Hudrea, Alina Ion, Maria Mandea, Delia A. Prodan, Stanca Soare, Ana Maria Szöllösi – are the protagonists whose artworks investigate, by various means, the current society and the world we live in.
The exhibition pinpoints the second stage of Accelerator. Mentoring and Production for Emerging Artists Programme, which follows the Mentorship stage that ended last year and represents a blossom integrating the knowledge of the 10 emerging artists in a unique and vivid manner, as a result of the interactions with relevant mentors, professionals in the artistic field from Romania and abroad.
“Instead of a theme or a topic, the concept of the exhibition draws on the structural specifics of the program, which generate a distinct dynamic between those involved. A two-year program, Accelerator acts as a platform for sharing and discussing ideas, knowledge, and professional experience. With this in mind, and without the constraints of a “classical” group exhibition, which would tend to illustrate a particular curatorial discourse, the presentation attempts to transcend meta-discourse, focusing instead on the new work produced by the ten participants.” – Tevz Logar, about the core of the exhibition
Through its three stages planned for 18 months – mentoring, group exhibition and public art – even from the beginning, Accelerator aimed to present emerging artists with a game-changing opportunity, at a key career juncture.
“Consistent with the unpredictability of the medium as such, the contrasted meanings and the formal relations between works reveal the exhibition as a multilayered, composite, and ambiguous entity that challenges its own foundations. But there is also a point where the ten artistic practices meet in the most profound way – not in their formal or conceptual resemblance, not for the sake of illustrating a theme, but in their sincere agency to reflect relationships within society.” – the curator concludes referring to the meaning of the artistic practices hosted by the exhibition
