Accelerator Câmpulung: Mentorship and production program for emerging artists

Learn, create, show, engage!

Initiated by Eastwards Prospectus Cultural Association and Câmpulung City Hall, Accelerator Câmpulung supports emerging artists from Romania through workshops, one-on-one mentoring sessions, financial support for the production of new works, and the opportunity to exhibit in different locations from Câmpulung

Accelerator Câmpulung is a new project under the umbrella of Accelerator, the extensive mentoring and production program for emerging artists initiated by Eastwards Prospectus Cultural Association in 2022, which ran for two years.

Starting from the basic principles of the Accelerator – Learn, create, show, engage!, Eastwards Prospectus Cultural Association aims, through the new project, Accelerator Câmpulung, to continue concretely supporting the needs of emerging artists in Romania.

Through the two stages – mentorship and art exhibitions in public space – Accelerator Câmpulung engages emerging artists in an experience that allows them to get to know the contemporary art system and market better, to create new opportunities to exhibit and connect with other artists, curators and the general public and thus create the conditions for a significant change in their artistic career.

Learn!

Participants learn from four Romanian mentors in three workshops and individual mentoring sessions. They gain insights into topics such as the artist-gallery relationship, the functioning of different types of contemporary art organizations and site-specific art, and the possibilities of adapting to new spaces. Thus, they receive tangible complementary information, which formal education in Romania does not offer, and through which they can improve their organization, presentation, and communication skills of their practice.

Create!

Emerging artists in the program will be given access to the resources needed to produce new work. They will constantly collaborate with a curator throughout the work process. The artistic creation will be carried out through individual works intended for being exhibited in the public space.

Show!

In addition to getting access to expertise and resources, Accelerator Câmpulung offers emerging artists the opportunity to exhibit new work in various Câmpulung locations.

Engage!

The structure of the program facilitates the interaction within the core of emerging artists, between them and Romanian professionals, as well as with the general public through the group exhibition and the interviews conducted within the editorial project “Face to Face with the artists,” which will be published on the website.
