The Naughtiness of the Earth
The performance proposes an ethical questioning of social priorities, using a concrete reproduction of the artwork Cumințenia Pământului as an allegorical drive for the following question: is it moral to fund higher-level needs when the fundamental ones remain unmet?
The installation of the cogwheels serves both allegorical (through performative production) and conceptual (object-related) purposes, considering the nomadic condition and commodity status of modern art (as evidenced by the proprietary history of the reproduced work). Rolling the artwork on the unpaved streets of Iași becomes a performative gesture that tackles on the distribution of public resources in a society with unsatisfied fundamental needs.
